Review
This book revolves around a case that is assigned to detective Ulf Varg involving his own brother and his right-wing political party Moderate Extremists. The case is to find the mole in the party who is leaking party secrets to the rivals. In addition, there is a cat-related sabotage case.
This book is short and quick to read, an ideal commute read. I read two McCall Smith’s books back-to-back ; this and The Department of Sensitive Crimes. I realised McCall Smith is so different from the crime authors that I need to get used to the quirkiness to be able to actually enjoy his books as much as his fans do.
The cases are so wacky that throughout the book I kept wondering, What is happening? Does anything make sense? These senseless stories were quite amusing; magic of the writing style I should say. It is completely opposite from what we generally read as detective/cop novels.
Though I found The Department of Sensitive Crimes better
Rating 3.5/5 🌟
