ROMANCE, MAGIC, MYSTERY…. AND CHOCOLATE
When Tasmin’s bethrothed, William, is accused of murder, she gathers her wind sprites and rushes to his home town to investigate. She doesn’t have a shred of doubt about his innocence. But as she settles in his chocolate shop, she finds more in store than she bargained for. Facing suspicious townsfolk, gossiping neighbors, and William’s own family, who all resent her kind – the sorcerer folk from the North — she must also learn to tell friend from foe, and fast. For the real killer is still on the loose – and he is intent on ruining William’s family at all cost.
The Chocolatier’s Wife is a truly original, spellbinding love story, featuring vivid characters in a highly realistic historical setting.
Review
It’s a simple story of love, mystery, jealousy, rivalry, justice with some tinge of magic and of course chocolate!
The romance between the lead couple is sweet and simple but again unique. The tradition of marital union decided by mating spell and the blind faith in it is a new and interesting concept to read about.
There were parts that were quirky and little unbelievable in the almost realistic setting, some parts were comic.
Since the lead lady was a witch or mage, there could’ve been more magic in the murder mystery.
Little tips here and there about chocolate making was indeed delicious.
The recipe book after the story was unexpected.
The backstory of William was interesting, I wanted to know more.
Overall, it’s nice and simple. Not every book has to be all spicy and over-laden with action and suspense and emotions.
My Rating: 3.8/5
P.S. I had received this book as part of The Book Robin Hoods program from the author in exchange for an honest review. Thank you for the book and apologies for the delay
